Dry feet

Dry skin on the feet may begin to crack, roughen, flake, peel or itch. Untended, dry skin on the feet can lead to painful cracks and cuts on the heels or between the toes. In addition, dry skin makes the feet more susceptible to fungus infections. Diabetic patients commonly suffer from dry feet and they are also in higher risk of developing infectious cuts.

Treatment

  • Use foot creams daily to keep your feet soft.
  • Use comfortable shoes that do not put friction on your skin. Try to avoid shoes that have tight spots that can rub against your heel.
  • Night time use of foot creams moisturizes your skin very effectively. Wear special socks in bed that keep the lotions on your skin during the entire night.
  • Use insoles inside your shoes that alter the position of your feet to avoid rubbing against the heel.
