Achilles tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis mostly ails people who either run or walk very much. The common symptoms are: pain above your heel, tendon thickening, lumps along the tendon, swelling and cracking sounds when moving your ankle.

Ankle pain

Ankle pain is commonly caused by an inflammation or irritation of the ankle. They can be caused by sports or other kinds of injuries to the ankle or an otherwise loose or unstable ankle.


Arthritis is an inflammation and swelling of the tissues. Common symptoms are: pain or tenderness, swelling, joint stiffness and redness.

Back pain

Sometimes back pain can be caused by the feet. Faulty standing and walking positions of the foot can cause problem in the legs, back, knees, hips and even shoulders.


Blisters are painful fluid filled skin sacs that are the result of rubbing and friction. They appear on the heels, toes and between the toes.


Bunions appear on the side of the metatarsal area beside the big toe. They are an enlargement of the bone which becomes prominent making the foot wider.

Callus and corns

Calluses are areas of thickened and hardened skin on your foot that are caused by rubbing against the bony areas of the foot. They are commonly found on heels, in the ball of foot area but also on your toes or between your toes, which are called corns or soft corns, if they are located between the toes.


Chondromalasia (Chondromalacia patellae) is a result of an irritation of the inner side of the kneecap. In most cases the kneecap slides easily when bending the knee, but with some people the smooth cartilage on the inner side of the kneecap rubs against the front part of the thighbone, which causes irritation and pain.

Cold feet

Cold feet are a common problem that is caused often by poor blood circulation in the feet.


The feet of diabetic patients are prone to injuries and infections like blisters, bunions, corns, calluses and cuts. Meticulous and proper foot care is especially important for diabetic patients.

Dry / cracked heels

Dry skin also causes cracked heels. Untended cracks and cuts in the heel can cause infections that may be very serious problems.

Dry feet

Dry skin on the feet may begin to crack, roughen, flake, peel or itch. Untended, dry skin on the feet can lead to painful cracks and cuts on the heels or between the toes.

Flat feet

Feet that roll inwards so that the entire arch collapses are call flat feet. The position of the foot differs with people suffering from flat feet and walking may cause much pain.

Hammer toes

Hammer toes result from a muscular imbalance or overly tight tendons which make the toe turn downwards into a hooked position. Most commonly it is found in the toe beside the big toe as a result of bunions where the big toe has turned under the toe beside it.

Heel pain

Heel pain in general is probably the most common foot related problem and it can be caused by many reasons. The actual pain in the heel is very commonly caused by an inflammation of the ligaments that run at the sole bottom of the foot that are connected to the heel.

Heel spur

Heel spurs are the result of incorrectly functioning feet. They develop as a result of an inflammation in the ligament that runs along the sole of the foot (plantar fasciitis). The most common symptom of heel spurs and plantar fasciitis is pain in the sole of the foot when getting up from bed in the morning.

Morton’s neuroma

Morton’s neuroma causes pain between your toes and in the ball of the foot. It can also be felt as a burning, tingling or numb sensation.

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome – PFPS

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, or PFPS, is a general term which points to pain in the front part of the knee. The pain is caused by an incorrect movement path of the kneecap, when bending the leg. This incorrect movement path may lead to damage to the tissues in the knee which causes the pain.

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a very common condition. Its most common symptom is pain that is felt in the morning when getting up from bed.


Pronation is a normal movement of the foot where the foot cushions the impact of the foot hitting the ground. However, sometimes the foot rolls inwards too much which is called overpronation.

Runner’s knee / Iliotibial Band Syndrome – ITBS

Iliotibial Band Syndrome or Runners knee (ITBS) is a common condition especially among long-distance runners. The pain is felt on the side of the knee and is caused by an irritated IT band, which runs between the hip and the tibia along the outside of the knee.

Smelly feet

The most common cause for unpleasant foot odours is that the shoes or socks are not breathable and moisture remains inside the shoe. Therefore it is very important to keep feet dry, cool and clean as well as possible.

Sole of foot pain

Before treatment it is important to find out where the pain originates. The sole of foot can be painful from a variety of reasons e.g.: flat feet, pronation and plantar fasciitis.

Sweaty feet

Excessive foot sweating is a very common problem which maybe the cause for unpleasant foot odours. In addition, toenail fungus easily contacts to very sweaty feet.
